Swim Team Banquet

To finish off the swim season, our swim team holds a banquet and gives out awards to all the kids.  They also give out 4 "special" awards. Leyton won the "100% effort" award.  This was awarded to the kid that came to practice and always gave 100%.

I didn't get many pictures but I thought it would be nice to post one of him getting his award.
If you look REALLY closely you can see him!

We can't wait until next season too!  Redding will be on the swim team next year.
This should be interesting...

Michael Phelps has nothing on us!

Leyton joined our neighborhood swim team this year.  He made leaps and bounds in his swimming ability.  At the beginning of the season, he could barely swim 5 yards without struggling.  Now, he is swimming the length of the pool.  He knows all of his swim strokes but he does not like backstroke.  Leyton competed in 3 of the 6 swim meets and he even won a heat in
one of his meets.

Just Beachy

Gill, Yogi, and Lilly and the Thomas Troop took a trip to the beach.
Our days were filled with trips to the pool...and then to the beach...and then back to the pool.
Our evenings were filled with food, miniature golf, go-carts, and more beach.
Our nights were filled (after putting the kids to bed) playing card games and eating more food.

There was plenty of sunshine, even though the forecast called for rain daily.

I am not sure who thought it was a good idea to let the
boys have a lollipop that is almost bigger than their heads...
Sticky did not even begin to describe this.

Beautiful Ms. Lilly

On the last night of our trip, Redding and Lilly ended up in the pool, fully clothed.
It was really cute, and they knew it too!

We are looking forward to more trips to the beach in the future.
Maybe next time we will get pictures of the adults too!

Day 3 Myrtle Beach Trip (#2) - Beach and Pool Time!

During Redding's nap, Leyton and I hung out at the pool/play area (for our "lonely" time, as he refers to it).  Evidently, it turned into a photo shoot.  Considering how hard it is for me to get Leyton to smile for the camera, this made me very happy!

Michael Phelps, Watch Yourself!

Leyton is taking swimming lessons this summer and his swimming skills have greatly improved. He can swim without assistance for small distances and he loves to jump in the pool. No fear anymore, which is both good and bad.

This is the first summer, ever, that we have really had pool access and we are enjoying every minute of it. Not only do we have our neighborhood pool, we also have access to the pool at the YMCA. We love having pool access without actually having a pool. Sometimes, we pack up dinner and go to the pool and eat. We let the kids play for an hour or so and then head home. They are usually pretty wiped out and everyone sleeps well!
